DEWALT DWE7491RS is a portable saw which usually means that I do not expect much from it. Like we talked about before you sacrifice certain things for the convenience and portability that these offer. BUT, I had read great things so I decided to really test this thing out.
I tried this table saw out with some thinner woods and materials but then went full force and tried it out with hardwoods. This might seem like a daring thing to do with a portable saw but I wanted to see if it really stood up to the tougher materials like Dewalt claims. It did really well. I was so impressed.
Features of Dewalt DWE7491RS
The DEWALT DWE7491RS 10-inch Jobsite Table Saw with 32-1/2 inch (82.5cm) Rip Capacity and a Rolling Stand is a great table saw and probably the best portable table saw I have ever used. It features a rack & pinion fence system which makes fence adjustments really easy and the 32-1/2 inch rip capacity quickly and accurately cuts a variety of larger materials.
The material support and the flip-over ripping fence also allow for narrower cuts which is useful and a feature not all table saws boast. The 15 amp motor is pretty powerful and efficiently handles hardwoods. I am so impressed with the telescoping fence rails which easily go in and out making the table saw super portable and compact.
This saw offers 3-1/8 inch depth of cut at 90 degrees and 2-1/4 inch at 45 degrees which is pretty standard and it has a 2-inch dust collection port which can be easily connected to a vacuum for efficient clean up. The rolling stand is designed for easy set up and breakdown and it REALLY does pop up and fold down super easily.
The excellent stability is pretty surprising for a portable table saw. The machine features large heavy duty wheels and they can and will roll right over steps, curbs, etc. Trust me, I tried. It was really easy to get this thing around. 26-1/4 inch X 22 inch table provides superior material support because Dewalt has a patented system which focuses on creating an easy to use machine. This table saw also features an on-board storage system. That’s really nice if you like to keep things neat and tidy like I do.
Who Is This Table Saw Suitable For?
- Cabinet Installers,
- Hardwood Floor Installers
- Trim Carpenters
- Deck Builders
- Basically, this specific tool is best for people who need the portability of a table saw and that folds up and down but are looking for the best features, as well. It is really great for anyone who is intermediate or expert in woodworking.
The Cons of this Table Saw
The surface is textured so materials do not slide as easily they might on a cast iron material support BUT that is common in portable table saws. This is, for the most part, a contractor’s saw. With that said, I find it to do the job quite well and that the wood doesn’t slip, slide or wander as you sometimes have happen with other portable saws.
