The Bosch GTS1031 10-inch portable jobsite table saw provides comfortable and easy one-handed carrying. That’s a really cool feature and something that no other (to my knowledge) table saws offer. Bosch GTS1031 packs a powerful punch for a portable saw and is built for a full array of applications and materials.
The saw rips up to 18-inch widths and can support up to an 8-inch diameter, 1/2-inch dado stack and, with a 4.0 HP max and a 5,000 RPM motor, it can go straight through anything: rough lumber, sheet goods, flooring, stair treads, shelving, siding, trim…ANYTHING! Trust me, I tried it on everything and it really worked.
The base is steel and very durable. The vase incorporates a nearly indestructible, light and compact design. It also features rubber feet which give it maximum stability when in use.
Cons of Bosch GTS1031
I tried using this machine for cutting cabinets and did run into a few problems. I am a cabinetmaker, by trade, and was curious what this machine could do. The design looks great, it’s very attractive and sleek and the size is great but can it handle real jobs? That was the question.
I used stand and it was quite stable but the saw fence needed to be aligned right off of the bat and I replaced the blade on this machine with a higher quality one. When I turned the saw on, right away I hated the fast rough start, and the loudness of it.
This saw cuts in a very rough way. It’s not a smooth running machine at all. Because of this, it is very loud and the cuts are inaccurate and it leaves marks in the wood. The arbor has a lot of play in it and this makes cutting a challenge….Again, ROUGH!
The overall build quality is great but there are some annoying design flaws.
In general, this tool seems to have been designed with compactness and convenience in mind but you must sacrifice a lot of very important features to get that portability. It’s really not a great trade off to have to make. With all portable saws (and with all purchases) there will have to be trade-offs but, with this saw, I feel that the cons really outweigh the pros.
